estimate

Estimates differ from quotes in that estimates give the client an indication of the expected design time required and cost incolved. Quotes by contrast give the client a fixed price for the requested design work.

Estimates are more often found in traditional, offline graphic design where the client is billed upon completion of the work. Quotes are more common online where logo designers usually would not start the work until the payment (or a specified part of it) has been received.

exclusive logo

An exclusive logo is a logo that has one owner - in other words the logo is not used by more than one company and the logo designer does not resell the logo.

Traditionally the assumption has been that all logos are exclusive. As the "signature" of the company and central to its brand, it makes little sense to have a logo that is not unique to your company. With the birth of the online logo design industry this changed to a certain extent. While the majority of online logo designers do offer exclusive logos, there are some who sell template logos. Logo shoppers are cautioned to study offers carefully to determine if exclusive ownership is included.
